This prestigious scholarship is offered exclusively to students who have graduated from a foreign university with outstanding academic results.

Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the UNIL Master’s Excellence Grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an international student with excellent academic results and must apply through the Selection Process for the Master’s Grant.
- Candidates should have achieved very high academic performance (specific grade requirements are not provided by country).
- Students who have already started a Master’s program at UNIL or are in a preparatory year are not eligible.
- Applicants must have a foreign university degree that is considered equivalent to a Swiss Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS credits).
Scholarship Benefits:
- The Master’s Grant for the first year amounts to CHF 19,200.00, distributed as CHF 1,600.00 per month over 12 months, including July and August before the second year.
- The grant for the second year is up to CHF 16,000.00, or CHF 1,600.00 per month for 10 months (September to June). If the program is worth 90 ECTS credits, the grant for the second year will be CHF 12,000.00, or CHF 1,600.00 per month for the first semester (September to January: five months).
- Recipients are exempt from course enrollment fees but must pay a semester fee of CHF 80.00.
- Subject to availability, accommodation may be offered in one of the halls of residence at the Fondation Maisons pour Etudiants Lausanne (FMEL).

The application form for the Master’s Excellence Grant also serves as your application for admission to the chosen Master’s program at UNIL. Candidates must apply online and upload their complete application file in PDF format during the online application process (refer to the “list of documents for an application”).
- Application files sent by email or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- If your Bachelor’s degree is from a university in a country that has not ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention, you must send a certified copy of your university documents in a sealed envelope by postal mail.
