About the Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program

The CFSP is a scholarship initiative aimed at building organizational capacity by training staff from developing countries that are members of La Francophonie. The program is fully funded by the Government of Canada and is managed by the Canadian Bureau for International Education in collaboration with the World University Service of Canada since January 1, 2015.

The long-term objective of the program is to promote the development of recipient countries by focusing on:

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the CFSP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Language Requirement: Must be proficient in French.
  • Eligible Countries: Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Djibouti, Mauritania, Comoros, and other African countries.
  • Candidates: Selected candidates may apply for university studies leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree, technical and vocational training, or short-term internships.
    • Institutions in recipient countries conduct internal recruitment to identify qualified candidates with the greatest potential to strengthen their institution’s capacities upon their return.
    • Note: Clinical training in pharmacy, medicine, and dentistry is excluded.
  • Quota System: Candidates are selected based on a quota system, which allows recipient countries to define their own training priorities and the level of training needed for institutional development.
