This fully funded scholarship is available to international students from developing countries who wish to pursue a Master’s degree or participate in training courses in Belgium. There is no application fee to apply, making this an excellent opportunity for students to study abroad for free during the 2025-2026 academic year. 

About the Belgium Government ARES Scholarship

The Belgium Government ARES Scholarship offers a wide range of majors and fields for the Master’s degree program. The duration of the scholarship is one year for a Master’s degree and between 2 to 6 months for practical training development. Each year, the Belgium Government awards 220 scholarships to international students, aiming to develop their skills and expertise.

This scholarship gives you the opportunity to pursue a one-year specialized Master’s degree or a 2-to-6-month advanced training course at a higher education institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium.

Financial Benefits

The Belgium Government ARES Scholarship 2025-26 is a fully funded program that covers all expenses for the duration of the postgraduate degree or training course. Benefits include:

For Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree:

  • Round-trip international airfare
  • Living allowance for 12 months (with a 13th month at a reduced rate)
  • Indirect mission fees: €200 (paid once upon arrival)
  • Arrival allowance, tuition fees, and return fees: €700 (paid once upon arrival)
  • Registration fees
  • Insurance fees
  • Travel costs related to inter-university training

For Training Courses:

  • Round-trip international airfare
  • Living allowance
  • €93/day for stays lasting 8 to 17 days
  • €1,500/month for stays lasting 18 days to 1 month
  • €1,500/month for stays lasting 1 to 6 months, prorated to the number of days
  • Indirect mission fees: €200 (paid once upon arrival)
  • Insurance fees
  • Travel expenses for inter-university training

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Two letters of recommendation (academic or professional)
  • Certified copies of original diplomas
  • Certified transcripts for all academic years
  • Proof of occupation for the past five years
  • Certificate of nationality or copy of passport
  • Pre-project proposal (for certain courses)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Belgium Government ARES Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be under the age of 40 for degree programs and under 45 for training courses at the start of the program
  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed above
  • Have a related academic background for the field of study
  • Possess passive knowledge of English (reading)
